Patience 2 - The reward

.
Yesterday, someone I know got what he wanted after putting up with waiting for it for one year. He has shown patience and understanding of the delays amid acute difficulties and the impending financial turmoils.
.
As for the other party who had screamed, shouted and threatened with police reports and legal injunctions, they got nothing but a bad name. It's normal, most people avoid storms, but love gentle breezes.

Rewards 4 - Protection

People who are absolutely loving tend to be protected from harm's way somehow.
.
Sister Teresa Hsu (now 109 years old) who does lots of charity in Singapore says that somehow she gets to know of people who were trying to cheat her. Somehow, the cheater's plot will be revealed to her unwittingly.
.
A friend of mine is a very kind person and does a lot of community work. One day, she realised she was not paid for the consulting work had done for her client. She was mad! But after sometime, she learned that the client was arrested and was part of an organised crime. Should she have received payment from them, she would have been dragged into their web of crime unknowingly and will have to go through the mess of police investigations.
.
Another friend of mine had recently gone into a bad patch. He was cheated by some people of money and eventually ended with his business assets being repossesed by the creditors. But despite being in such dire straits financially, he couldn't stop telling me about his plans to build schools, hospitals, orphanages, cheap housing, bridges, roads and so on, for his people. Touched by his love for his people and his benevolent plans, I set out to seek financing for him. It was tough, but despite all the initial setbacks, miracles started happening. I got the financing for him amid all the difficulties. In the end, it was amazing to see the number of people coming forward to help him. One of them even came out with a loan without asking for a written contract. I am really happy that it all ends well for him.
.
I believe that in whatever we do, as long as our heart is in the right place, things will pan out well in the end. If it doesn't, that means it is not the end. :)
.
The Universe also works in mysterious ways that will result in the highest good. So, as we learn to trust, we learn to listen and follow our heart.

Rewards 3 - Will to live

Recently, two of my friends recovered from cancer of the stomach and are in remission.
.
One of them has a four year old girl. She told me the thought of her little girl going on without a mother pushed her to live.
.
The other friend has a strong faith in his religion and went on a leafy green diet and no other liquid other than water and green tea. He also overcome cancer despite much odds in his daily life.
.
I think both of them have turned out stronger in the end. I am very happy for them.
.
I am now moved to reflect on my life and what I do everyday - deciding what is worthy what is not, and to enjoy everyday as if it is the last (or the first).

Rewards 2 - Rewards for Living

I have a friend who says that his vocation is 'to live'. He says that living is the main thing he does. "To really be living is such an important thing that many people busy in a haste forget", he says. Can I call him a "liver"? hehe
.
This friend of mine had backpacked the world for four years, and subsequently in the years that follow, work on projects he feels are worthy. These projects are usually unpaid work. Voluntary work that serves human kind.
.
It has been nearly a year since I last spoke to him. During that time, he had left for New Zealand and China to do humanitarian and environmental protection work - mostly paid by his personal savings and whatever that comes along. My friend set out with little money, and only with the passion and sincerity of helping others and saving the earth. Money are paid out to him often by people he merely met for a while and having related to them what he has been doing. These near strangers wrote cheques to him because they say they support the work that he is doing.
.
Then the other day, as he was going to buy his new laptop, a company paid for it. He got it free!
.
I believe all these are Providence to one who truly believes in what he does and fearlessly moves to give the world what he has to make it a better place. I believe once the heart is in the right place, then can resources flow seamlessly to aid the noble objectives that one truly wants to achieve. But for that to happen, Fear has to be packed away, then can Providence flow in.

Rewards

I was asked to collect a watch for my sister. She sent it for repair at Vivocity in Singapore.
"How much was it? $30? $50?" I asked
"No, $70", she replied.
"Wah! Quite a lot just for a change of the belt", I thought.
.
At Vivo, the lady at the shop told me that she was trying to contact my sister by phone, but in vain. (We realised later that she got the number wrong!) Then she told me that they didn't repair the watch, but replaced one for her - brand new!
.
"How much would that cost?" I quipped, apprehensive that it will now really cost a bomb!
"It's free!" she replied.
.
Well that is certainly a pleasant surprise! This is really a rare occurence these days.
.
God is very kind to my sister, as a property agent, she has been getting many referrals from happy customers. Once, she was given an extra $5,000 from the customer for her good work.
.
Good things do happen to people who are helpful and giving. My sister is one who always help friends and run errands for others without expectations of return. It is said in spiritual scriptures that what we give without expectations of return, we get it back manifold.
.
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus emphasizes lending without concern for a return - or even repayment:
.
If ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again. But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest, for he is kind to the unthankful, and to the evil. (
Luke 6:35)

The Quran says:
.
The usury that is practiced to increase some people's wealth, does not gain anything at God. But if people give to charity, seeking God's pleasure, these are the ones who receive their reward many fold. (Ar-Rum 30:39)
.
This is so true! It is one thing reading it from a holy book and another witnessing the results first hand, especially of someone from my own family.
