105 Universal Laws Review

Question:
In difficult economic times like these, should I cut down on my expenses and quality of life, or should I continue to believe in the Law of Abundance and spend?
.
Reply
It all depends on your intention.
.
Do you spend to fill in a void? A void is an insecurity - a Fear. If you do, then Abundance does not come to you, as you are coming from the thought of Lack! And so you get 'Lack'.
.
However, if you spend because you believe that the Source will provide for you, then you will be provided for. Many people believe Money to be their Source. If you believe that, then when money runs out, there is Fear. However, if you believe that your source is not Money, but the inexhaustable Universal Source, then Abundance will work to continue to provide for you.

105 Universal Laws Review

Going through all the laws and the past notes, I realised that there are many laws that are very close or similar to one another. Many are complementary. For instance:
  1. There is the Law of Attraction but also the Law of Repulsion. Those that are not attracted to me are repelled from me.
  2. There is the Law of Sound and also the Law of Vibration. In order to have sound, there must be vibration.
  3. There is the Law of Rebirth, and also the Law of Cycles, the Law of Cyclic Return, the Law of Disintegration (so that recycling can happen), the Law of Rhythm (so that all can happen in tandem), the Law of Periodicity (rhythmic periodicity) and the Law of Sacrifice (somethings must 'die' before something else begins).

What more, all these laws must apply at the same time and without exceptions!
Something for me to ponder for the coming months! (may be years!)

Universal Law - Part 6 (Final Part)

This posting is based on what I have learned from the "105 Universal Laws" seminar on the 27th May 2007 in Singapore by Dr Aaron Lim. This seminar comprises a series of lectures conducted one Sunday a month. This is the ninth lecture of the series. The last of the series.
.
Warning: This posting contains opinions that may be considered unacceptable by some people. If you are easily offended by unconventional views about religion and spiritualism, then DO NOT READ FURTHER THAN HERE. If you do, then do it at your own risk! If you do not agree with the views expressed below, it does not mean that you have not 'arrived', rather it just mean that you 'do not agree'. Meanwhile, try to be open. There are lots to discover about ourselves when we are open. Do feel free to leave comments.
.
BELIEVING IS NOT NECESSARY!
.
The 105 Universal Laws have taken longer time than I have expected to finish them. At first I thought it will take only about 6 months to complete them. But today, we are going to finish discussing them all. The reason for the delay is because some of the laws are more dominant than others. For instance, the Law of Karma.
.
Law of Karma works like your mobile phone SMS. Once the 'send' button is pressed, we can't bring the message back even if you have mistakenly sent it to the wrong person.

[I quipped: And it will be a message addressed to 'Sayang' ('Darling' in Malay.)] [Laughter!]
.
Yes, and the wrong person will get the 'Sayang' and the person the 'Sayang' is supposed to go to keep waiting in vain. You see how complicated a simple action can lead to?
.
I get many wrongly directed smses to me, because my name "Aaron" with a double "A" is usually the first in most mobile phone directories. I usually let them know that their messages are wrongly directed to me so that they can re-send them to the intended recipients.
.
Sometimes, I get stray phone calls too, because the caller forgot to lock his phone and had accidentally sat on the send button and I got a phone call. I could hear their conversations inadvertently. But of course, I hang up on knowing that they are just stray calls.
.
Karma is the same. Once sent out, they cannot be rectified. Changing mobile phone sets will not help. Just like changing religions will not help.
.
Our thoughts, like our mobile phone, are sent out frequently. Thoughts travel, so be careful with what you think. It will be sent to people around you and people you think about. So be positive. You are the first recipient of your thoughts and they come one big circle eventually back to you. Some take longer, some sooner. Some are individual karma, some are shared karma.
.
For instance, all of us here in this hall has shared karma for the moment. Should an aircraft crash here now, most likely we will all die together.
.
We are going to start the ACIM (A Course in Miracles) seminar in August. Those of you who have attended will know that it is something that will change your life. It will be beneficial for those of you who likes to improve yourself to invest a year in this seminar series.
.
You will realise after ACIM that because you have changed, you will attract a different type of people. For instance, you will not attract angry people if you are peaceful.
.
But, some of you may ask, then why are some people you don't want to meet still lingering in your life? That is because you still have something in you that have attracted him/her to be around. You have not completely released him/her. If your mind is still fighting with him/her, you will attract the fighting.
.
Thoughts are so powerful. The receiving person feels it. It takes two to fight.
.
For instance, if you go to the temple and jump and scream at the saints, Buddha or KuanYin statues to you go hoarse, at some point you will not shout anymore. You know it is futile. The statues would still look serene and calm. You will be depleted.
.
[BTW, that is the primary reason of the statues - to remind us of being peaceful - not idol worship.]
.
As you evolve and vibrate at a higher frequency, those that are not like you will gradually drop out.
.
For example, say if I love to drink and I go to the pub to drink with friends everyday after work before going home. In the pub, we have lame conversations like, "...I almost got the job... I almost spoke to that girl...etc". Lots of "I almost...".
.
So, after attending ACIM, I think in a different frequency and now don't like going to the pub to meet this people. Friends will call, but I will reject them each time. After many rejections, the calls will become less and less frequent and then eventually no more.
.
You see, you don't have to ask someone to go away. They will after some time, when the two of you don't think the same way or you don't want him to be around. If he is still around, that means for some reasons, you still want him to be around.
.
Some people say, people marry opposites. For instance, one calm, the other angry. On the surface, that appears to be true, but go deeper and your can see one suppressed anger and the other expressed anger.
.

[Poster we have presented Dr Aaron]
.
Now this is a poster of Shintaro. To those who have just joined this seminar, there is a reason for this picture. Shintaro is a movie character of a samurai in one of the Japanese TV series I watched years ago. Shintaro strikes me as decisive character. When confronted by all the ninjas around him wanting to attack him, he will finish them off quickly with a few strokes of his sword. Shintaro is focused, calm and decisive. Make the decision to kill and move forward.
.
In contrast, the French Three Musketeers, will cross swords back and forth, jump up the tables, grab the chandeliers to swing across the room, slide down stairs, break everything, even talk to the opponents... and in the end, no killing and the whole place in a mess!
.
I am mentioning these two metaphorically of course. It shows one making a decision and moving on, the other going back and forth and still leave everything in a mess!
.
Decision making is always based on what we know. It has uncertainties. We take a chance. Often, people have doubts about their decision. This will not get them to where they want. Doubt comes in because there is no trust in something bigger than ourselves. People who does not trust, think that they are totally in-charged. That they produce the entire results by themselves.
.
The 'thing' bigger than ourselves could be called, God, Buddha, Nature, Tao...etc. It is not in the name, it is in the 'knowingness'.
.
For instance, we want someone to love us, but when we find someone who love us, we fear the loss of our freedom. Thoughts go out as 'doubt', so success will be prevented.
.
If head and heart are not in harmony, don't do anything. Only take action when head and heart are in harmony.
.
81. Law of Rhythm
To observe the law of rhythm, go to the beach to observe the tides coming in, especially during the change of tides. The waves will come in a little, then go out, then in, then out - in absolute balance.
.
Same as in life, we go forward to achieve a task, then we withdraw to rest, then go forward to achieve, then rest.
.
If one is not in Rhythm, one will burn itself out, since everyday is a push. So, dance with the Rhythm. There is moment to wake up, there is moment to rest.
.
By the way, nothing is outside of the Universal Laws. Some say that God doesn't need to obey the laws. So what is God?
.
No two persons even from the same religion have the same image of God. Images changes with time, with location (Buddha statues look Chinese, instead of Punjabi) and with change of religions. In other words, we see God as a reflection of ourselves.
.
For instance, if you like black colour, then everything you have will be black. Our 'external' world is a reflection of our 'internal' world.
.
[My notes: 'External' and 'internal' and expressed in quotes, because in reality there is nothing internal or external. They are all one. 'External' and 'internal' here are expressed in the context of a delusional world.]
.
So if you are a great observer of life, you don't have to talk a lot to understand a lot. Those of you who have eaten around the same table with me, would have seen me picking out the tiny spring onion pieces from my plate. Without speaking, you know I don't like spring onions.
.
And how about, "Oh my gosh, did you see that beautiful red car?"
.
[Kok Yong: Dr Aaron, I am a bit confused with your description of reality? For instance, if a man had an extra-marital affair, he did have an extra-marital affair. Can he say it didn't happen?
.
Answer: Yes, it did happen, but it is not permanent. It was real when it happened, but it is not permanent. Also for the same incident, two persons will react differently to it. A lower consciousness may go and kill the unfaithful man, whilst an ascended being will take it as it is, as she will not see things from Right or Wrong, but just Choice and Consequences; and also that nobody belongs to her!]
.
When two persons are in perfect rhythm, they are harmonious.
.
[My question: So why is it that some people are in rhythm and some are not?
Answer: If you go down to a busy street, say Orchard Road, and watch people passing by you and watch your emotions. There will be some you feel you can connect with and some you feel repelled from. There some people whom you just have a reflex to avoid and you don't know any better. Sometimes to the extent of walking faster, or crossing to the other side of the road to avoid. Why?
Nothing comes from nothing. Something comes from something. It could be something in that person's face that reminded you of an incident with someone who looked similar. It could be something that happened in a previous embodiment.
.
However, it is not necessary to find out what troubles us in our last embodiments. They are not real, it is not good to find out sometimes. For instance, what if you found out that you have murdered one of your family members in your last emboditment?]
.
82. The Law of Right Human Relations

This law helps us define limits of behavioral control with others in third dimension. Third Dimension is the world of illusion. That is, a world where we think the unreal is real. Let no one assume to forcibly teach, counsel or guide.

That means, no uncalled for advice. Uncalled for advice makes the receiving party feels wrong and lousy; and that is against our nature of feeling grand.

[Question: When I give Ang Pows in temples to the caretakers, I normally ask them if I can give them one. Usually, they will receive it, but recently, there is one who refused to receive it. So should I ask them first or should I just give the Ang Pows?

Answer: You ask them. If they turn it down, then don't give. These people need to learn how to receive. Giving and receiving goes together. It is the Law of Rhythm. When a person stop the receiving, he stops the flow of Joy, since he can always give the money away after receiving them. ]

83. The Law of Right to One's Own Space

This is an aspect of free will, but another law of its own. Everyone is entitled to make career decisions for self, decide the belief system one feels comfortable with, and generally create the life that will allow one to fulfill his or her own birth vision. This is the right to one's own space, the right to live one's own life (allowing for parental direction inteh developing young person). Overprotective or controlling parents, friends and even dictators have impeded this law and right since almost the inception of mankind.

84. The Law of Sacrifice (and Death)

The destruction of form in order that the evolving life may progress, is one of the fundamental methods in evolution.

Everything must end before something else can begin. We die everyday. Our bodily cells are replaced everyday. Everyday, we become more and more divine than yesterday.

The skills that we learn cannot be brought along with us when we die. Only love is carried over to the next embodiment.

In the ACIM course, you will learn of the unhealed healer and the healed healer.

There are some healers who are healing others and yet have many unresolved issues themselves. This happens among some New Age practitioners.

85. The Law of Schools (The Law of Love and Light)

This is a mysterious term used to cover the law as it affects the expansions of consciousness which an initiate undergoes, and his ability to attract to himself through knowledge -

1. his own Higher Self, so as to produce alignment and illumination

2. his Guru

3. that which he seeks to know

4. that which he can utilize in his work of service

5. other souls with whom he can work.

This law applies to the Initiate who has transcended the stage of self-consciousness.

This refers to the progression of consciousness.

The lowest consciousness refers to beings who are still trapped in body, race, culture and other exclusions. This gives us the most trouble.

The next level is to lose your identification with body, race, culture... etc. You can try to get this feeling if you can find a quiet place to lie down on at night and just stare at the stars. After a while, the feeling of the body disappears and you are merged with the Universe. It feels really good. This is how we should feel all times of the day. When you separate, fear comes in.

86. The Law of Service

The Antahkarana is the bridge that joins the head to the heart, without which you won't act. With the linking of soul and the personality, the light of soul pours into the brain consciousness, resulting in the subordination of the lower (chakras) to the higher (chakras). This work requires so much sacrifice of time and personal interest, requiring deliberate effort, conscious wisdom and the ability to work without attachment.

Service is the extension of your Love.

Serve cheerfully at work. Your work is your service. Drop the term 'Job' from your vocabulary from today.

Therefore we go to college so that we can serve more people. As you give, so shall you receive. You get more Love and Love manifests itself in many ways.

.

87. The Law of Sex

There is no time and space during sexual orgasm.

That is why during orgasm, we do not ask:

"Who are you?"

"Where are you?"

"What time is it?"

May be after that we may ask! [Chuckles and laughter!]

Highly evolved people has no need for sex. They are in a perpetual orgasmic consciousness.

Animals cannot watch itself. Humans can. It is a rare privilege to be born a human being. We are blessed in the world of illusion. That means we can see the world in whichever way we want it to be. eg. You want to live a spiritual life in 5 years' time. When the 5 years is up, you can change your mind and still not live a spiritual life, if you don't want to.

.

We are already Buddha, or Christ...etc

We cannot work to be a Buddha or Christ,...etc

Because we are already one.

We have just forgotten. I task is therefore just to re-member - become One again.

88. The Law of Solar Evolution

This law is the sum total of all lesser activities.

We lose balance if we think activities are teh reason for our being. We are too wrapped up in our lesser acts.

The more spiritual you are, the more excited about life you are. You would vibrate at a higher frequency. Love vibrates at the highest frequency.

If you are down, you do the opposite.

89. The Law of Solar Evolution

When the interplay of the Suns is being dealt with from the material aspect and from the consciousness aspect, this term is occultly used. It is not possible to enlarge upon it.

90. The Law of Sound

Every living thing in existence has a sound. Through this knowledge changes will be brought about and new forms developed through this medium. The release of energy in the atom is linked to the science of sound. Healing with sound is profoundly effective (vocal sounds - tuning forks - music). Sound has the power to restore people to their harmonic patterns. Chanting specific sounds and mantrams brings about great healing and raising of vibration, and produces virtually unimaginable results when done with group mantric chanting. The most powerful mantram known to present man is "Om mani padme hum'.

[My question: Is there a generic sound which will heal across cultures, race, religion...etc?]

Yes, there is, "OM".

Let's all do an "OM" together. [We did! It was very soothing!]

This is a primordial sound. Scientists have put out recorders in space and have heard "Om". This is said to be the sound when the Universe was created.

91. The Law of Spiritual Approach

This law depicts the conscious act of a personality to create with its every thought, word and deed the ability to be the reflection of its god self. Every action is a prayer to the Creator of All. When this is done with success, the personality becomes a mirror or reflection of the god self for others to learn from and emulate. This is a walking, talking example of becoming our higher self.

Basically,

Thoughts = Prayer

92. The Law of Spiritual Awakening

A basic level of self-control and stability is required to maintain the degree of effort required for the awakening of other states of awareness. Because such awakening brings with it higher forms of perception and power, self-centred misuse of the greater perception and power bears proportionally graver karmic consequence. Spiritual awakening brings with it the need for moral impeccability.

93 The Law of Summons

Soul talk. One can learn how to lift the soul from teh physical body and summon another soul, to have a soul to soul talk. This is most powerful because there is no conscious ego present. The message of love andn or explanation, or plea is received in a most profound manner.

1. Call the person's name

2. Say, "I love you"

(3. "I forgive you")

4. "I bless you"

Too much religious repression results in many social problems. Offenders in these religions are then called up to go through 'more religion' which is worse. It would be best to merely summon the souls.

94. The Law of Surrender

Because people so cherish the self, surrendering is a very frightening experience. A person may experience the surrender as a leap into an abyss or as death. This may be perceived because she/he has not yet attained a complete trust and faith in God, the complete assurance that once the self is abandoned, the being automatically merges with a higher stage of existence which is necessarily ready and waiting to accept it. There is no chance for the process not to function. At the instance of surrender, the entire being of the individual merges into the specific higher manifestation of reality that it is in relation to the point in its development. God streams into the soul that has managed to negate the self. This is the surrender of the ider of 'i'.

Babies have complete trust. When they see an adult they like, they will jump and trust that you will grab him.

There are moments in your life when you feel empty, despite all that you have materially.

When the student is ready, the master will appear. This master may not be a guru with long beard and so on. It could be an ordinary person. It could even be your child.

.

95. The Law of Synthesis

You don't have to join a religion to learn about God, because it is inherently in us.

96. The Law of Teaching

This law concerns the responsibility people have to pass on that which they learn, for the continuation of the human race to benefit by this information, if it is the higher interest of people to learn the acquired information.

We have to pass down everything we know, unlike the Chinese martial arts master who would keep something to himself and not transfer to his disciple for fear of the latter being better than he is.

People who practises separation are the same. That is why they set up all those Chinese clan associations to share business information within themselves. They usually do not share them with people outside the association.

The Malays pride themselves with "Bahasa, Bangsa, Ugama". This have prevented them from growing at a rate that they should. Without growth, there is no replenishment. Wouldn't you prefer to swim under a waterfall, where water is replished continuously and perpetually, than in a still pond with stale water where even the fishes die?

Religion = Heart

Language = Love

Race = Humanity

97. The Law of Telepathy

When Jesus was born, there were Three Wise Men who arrived at the stable. They come from thousands of miles apart from each other. One from Tibet, another Egypt and another from Persia. They come from afar, crossing deserts, bringing the logistics and gifts they are supposed to bring guided only by stars - and all arrived on time! Isn't it amazing!

98. The Law of Three Requests

Whenever we pray or request a higher power to assist, we bring stronger energy to the effort by repeating our request/prayer three times.

This is the power or Three.

99. The Law of Time

The only moment we have is now. This is where we create. What we have done is done and that moment in history exists only as a record or energy trace in time and space. The consequences of past actions are atoned through karma, and canbe rewritten to a degree. The FUTURE only ever happens in and from the present tense and is built of today's thoughts, dressed by emotion and driven by action. Activity is key. Third dimension living has more rigid structure of time than fourth dimension existence. There are those who can slip into 'no time' but these are people who have raised their personal vibration (demonstrating many virtues, dispensed a great deal of karma and much killing of ego) and accessed the information to create the ability. Third dimension linear time was created for those living under this veil of forgetfulness to center in the moment and perceive a sense of order without the remembrance of burdens of past lives.

People who live in the past, cannot go on with their lives.

100. The Law of Unconditional Love

Loving ourselves and other people as they are, is honoring self and another's self and soul path. It is loving without judgment or reservation, an awareness we are all part of God or the All. When we love without condition or restraint we connect in a profound manner with our own higher self. We notice that we say the right things at the right time in our communication with others while loving unconditionally. Life and events seem to flow to us in a more joyous and agreeable manner. Everything seems easy when living in unconditional love.

.

Our true nature is Love. Anything else other than Love cannot exist.

eg. Shadow does not exist. Shine light on shadow and the shadow will disappear.

101. The Law of Unity

We are all connected, all bearing the seed of Divinity. this is the way we start, and the way we develop into eternity. It is only while in third dimension physical form, and because of the greater separation of our higher self from the personality, we experience the illusion that we stand alone. Fear enters our emotional body because of this illusion and begins to close more profoundly our connection to the Source. Also, when we experience great soul growth, in some small but profound manner, all benefit. All substance in this Universe flows to us and through us. We are All.

102. The Law of Universal Sympathy

This law concerns a yogic power which allows a Yogi to transfer information, or influence others' mind.

If something happens to one, it happens to all. For instance, if I cut my finger, my whole body gets affected in various degrees.

The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. My whole body is greater and more useful than just my fingers. Yet the finger doesn't know of other fingers and the whole. The fingers also work together and cannot be offended by each other.

So you cannot hurt someone and say it does not affect you. We are all in One whole.

103.The Law of Vibration

Nothing rests; everything moves,; everything vibrates. This is the law of progress, of movement and of rotation. This principle explains that the differences between manifestations of matter, energy, mind and spirit, result largely from varying rates in vibration. All that exists, is in constant vibration and motion. Atoms always vibrate with such great rapidity that they seem motionless to the physical eye. At the other end of the scale are things that vibrate so slowly that they also appear to be motionless or non-existent. In between are the various vibrations of living entities which range from consciousness all the way down to the lowly dust particle that plays an important role in the food chain. Still there are even things lower then dust... way down to the negative pole (undifferentiated matter), we find ourselves in the realm of spirit - the Alpha and the Omega. All that is, begins in spirit and ends in spirit completing a single cycle of evolution that will be repeated countless numbers of times through eternity.

So everything vibrates at a frequency.

When we change our tv channels we change the receiving frequencies.

104. The Law of Will of God

The creators of our world carry out their work of form building under this law. God's working has to do with things free from change and movement - things divine. It is God's will that what is human should be divine, and therefore all creation pushes forth to the God Light. God is all good and it is by reason of the Good that all other things exist.

105. The Law of Will Power

This law concerns the individual drive within a soul extension/personality which is projected from the complete entity. The individual developing soul extension differs in degree of will power from its other entity extensions/soul family members. Depending on the conditions of an incarnational experience and the incoming will of this extension, the personality can possess a drive to accomplish something that that may ssem overwhelming to others in the soul family and/or other incarnational personalities (friends). This law depicts the right and condition of each personality or soul extension to generate it's own degree of will power.

105 Universal Laws - Part 5 (1st draft)

This posting is based on what I have learned from the "105 Universal Laws" seminar on the 22nd Apr 2007 in Singapore by Dr Aaron Lim. This seminar comprises a series of lectures conducted one Sunday a month. This is the eighth lecture of the series. The second last of the series.
BELIEVING IS NOT NECESSARY!

Good morning all, thank you for coming here every month to listen to this forum. You have come here because you choose to. This is a free forum. There is nothing to join. There is no hidden agenda, so just relax. Belief is not compulsory, there is no punishment for non-belief.
.
We live our lives in our own belief system. Even 'not believing' in itself is a belief. When our beliefs are challenged, we can be uncomfortable. For instance, when I was a student in the United States, it was the time of the Vietnam War. I had problems with the White people sometimes. There was an instance when I was trying to look for a motel room.
.
The "Vacancy" sign was on, but when I asked, ...
...the landlord, said, "Sorry, we have no rooms tonight!".
Then I said, "But you had your vacancy sign on..."
He replied, "Yes, but now we don't have rooms..."
I said, "You have rooms, but you are not letting it to me."
He replied, "I won't let it to any Vietnamese"
I said, "But I'm not Vietnamese, I am from Malaysia"
He replied, "You are all the same..."
.
You see, the landlord already had a belief system in him that he refused to change. Later on, I learn that he had a son killed in combat in Vietnam.
.
The point is not to live life so defined that there is no room for anything else.
.
We all come to this life with previous experiences. Many don't change since the day we are born, and when we encounter new experiences, we feel uncomfortable. So there is no growth, and we come back to earth again until we are free from the earth.
.
The Malays for instance are very proud of, Bangsar, Ugama and Bahasa (Nation, Religion and Language), and as a result they do not speak other languages and do not adapt very well in foreign countries. The Chinese conversely, are very adaptable. Everywhere you go, you will find the Chinese speaking the local language, whilst keeping their cultures at home.
.
We all come here for the same mission, though outwardly we may appear different. Our minds lead us to where we want to go. When our minds are strong enough we will get what we ask for. Life is extremely fair. Of course desires fluctuates with time and also change in priority over time - just like the sound indicators on your hi-fi set, where the light bars fluctuate up and down every second.
.
[Question from the floor: So does it mean that if I think of money, I will get money?
.
Answer: No you won't, because your desires come from the thoughts of 'lack'. And therefore you will get 'lack' (of money). ]
.
So, we are not only a body. We have a spirit.
.
Some of us are afraid of ghosts/spirits, but we are also spirits. To the ghost living in a different dimension, we are the ghosts.
.
As we sleep and our spirits are free, we forget about religion. When we let go of religion, we are free. Religions are man-made. More importantly, we check ourselves by asking if we are more loving today than yesterday.
.
Also, check how much separation to we practise, because where there is no love, there is fear and eventually 'separation'. Our level of love is our level of God.
.
There are many people without religions, but are very inclusive. Religion are like culinary school, it has presentation, but more importantly, we should focus on the nutrition.
.
When our days are over, there is no religion.
.
There is no permanent state, so do not grasp. There is a difference between having strong desires and 'grasping'. The latter is based on 'lack'. It is akin to grasping for any breath of air or the any piece of flotsam when one is drowning in water.
.
The first law of the Universe is the Law of Change. Even languages have changed. The Malay language has changed. English has changed. Look at SMS languages, even PhD people may have problem understanding SMS languages sent by kids!
.
Law of Karma
Before I go on with the other Universal Laws, I would like to go through with you again the Law of Karma. This is the major law, though all laws applies simultaneously. The Law of Karma is the law of Cause and Effect. Causes are effects of previous causes. Effects in turn will become causes of further effects.
.
There are Individual Karma and Group Karma. Group Karma comes in a 'package'. For instance if you yearn to be a Malay in your previous embodiment, you may end up as a Malay in this embodiment, but also most likely to be a Muslim, though you did not choose to be a Muslim. That is, individuals get the effect of the group.
.
In the aftermath of the recent Virginia Tech massacre, Koreans will be perceived unfavorably by the Americans, since the murderer was a South Korean. Some Americans may even harbour ill feelings about East Asians in general. So if you are Chinese, you fall into the Group Karma.
.
Karma can take effect very fast or very slow. It can take thousands of years. Seeds discovered from ancient tombs when planted started to sprout and grow. They couldn't grow in the tomb because the different pieces for action were not together yet. But once, there sunlight, water and air, the seeds started to grow. The cause for growth was already in the seed waiting for the effect. It is the same for our daily actions. Some effects will come later when the environmental conditions are ripe.
.
Karma has no hold on us if we are not attached to the effects.
.
[Question: But how about physical pain? Isn't it difficult to ignore these types of effects?
Answer: True. It is difficult to ignore. But have you ever have a pain in your body and then suddenly a big truck came quickly around the corner so near you that you have to duck and jump away from it. What happened then? The pain disappeared momentarily. Where did the pain go? Then when the commotion is over, the pain came back. So the pain is not even real.]
.
Plant your seeds for desired effects. Be loving, but don't make bonds of each other (attachment).
.
Start the day with love.
Go through the day with love.
End the day with love.
.
56. Law of meditation.
This is the other half of prayer. Meditation is not just sitting positions. It is to see life as it is. To cut the illusions, to dwell within, to be still and allow God to talk to you.
.
Live your life by listening to God. You will hear a message to "Come Home". God does not talk as in human conversation. They tend to be very short. In meditation, we listen to the voice that guides us.
.
We are all Assemblers not Creators. We can be co-creators. My parents didn't create me. If they did, I would carry their thoughts, but no, I have my own thoughts. Our children are not created by us. We facilitated them to come to this world. They came here after some 'heavy-breathing' in the night between two persons. :)
.
We talk to God as a God in ourselves. It is the God in me honoring the God in you. All relationships are God relationships.
.
The beginning of the Chinese language version of the bible is well translated. It said, "In the beginning there is ONE, ONE makes TWO, TWO makes THREE, and THREE makes ALL."
.
[My own notes:
The THREE are: Father, Son and the Holy Spirit OR Thoughts, Manifest and Love.]
.
57. The Law of Mentalism
"The ALL is the MIND". The All is substantial reality underlying the outward manifestations and appearances which we know are empirical.
All things begin and end in the mind.
If you believe you are the doer, ego kicks in. If not, the power greater than you guides you.
.
58. The Law of Miracles
This law is operable by any person who has realised that the essence of creation is light. A master is able to employ his/her divine knowledge of light phenomena to project instantly into perceptible manifestation the ubiquitous light atoms. The actual form is determined by the master's wish and by his/her powers of will and visualisation.
.
Miracles are natural happenings. They happen to miracle minds.
.
59. The Law of Monadic Return
This law concerns the 'force of evolution'. Monad = Soul.
.
60. The Law of No Judgments
The Universal Spirit does not judge us; judgments are human inventions, a means to compare, contrast and control as we judge ourselves against artificial, and often idealistic standards of perfection, morality and truth. Under the law of equalities, our judgments attract judgment to us in equal measure. The life/karmic review conducted by yourself after death is a condition of living in duality/third dimension.
.
61. Law of Non-Attachment
Attachment to the self creates karma. Non-attachment to the self dissolves karma. This non-attachment to the self is made possible through the realisation that the ultimate nature of the self is Empty. The self does not exist as a separate entity. A full conceptual understanding needs to occur, but mere conceptual understanding does not lead to liberation. Many methods have been devised to help human beings attain this realisation, and usually fall into two categories. The first is 'non-attached behaviour' and the other is called 'spiritual practice'. Through diligent application of these methods, an individual can free himself or herself from the confines of karmically determined existence. Enlightenment is real and attainable.
.
Everything is changing and so we should not be attached to anything.
Watch the movie, "What Dreams May Come", starring Robin Williams.
.
62. The Law of Non-Intervention
This law concerns the individual rights of people and society situations to serve self rather than live in the vibration of service to others. This law prevents physical beings and non-physical biengs from intervening or correcting what they see as wrong or harmful. If this law is violated, there is great karma incurring. Another aspect of this law is that spirit is not permitted to channel material to a recipient that would froce a change in the evolution of the person. There is an exception when the channeler is willing to undergo a trance, and the consciousness leaves the body for another consciousness to enter and impart knowledge that was previously unknown to the individual.
.
A person that cries with you, buys into your pain. He is delusioned.
.
[Question: But isn't it painful to see someone suffering and yet not helping? Should we advise that person?
Answer: Only if they ask.]
.
63 The Law of One
The Lord is ONE. All that is, is His - of self, of the universe, of the activities in the earth. All moves and has its being in Him. So it is in self. Life itself is the consciousness, the awareness of the Oneness of that Universal Consciousness in the earth.
.
64. The Law of Order of Creation
The beginning of law carries all the way through. And that which comes or begins first is conceived in spirit, grows in the mental and manifests in the material. First, it was the means and source or manner by which the powers that be made the centralisation for making known to the children of men, and children of God, the directing forces or powers. Man eventually turned into this into that channel for destructive forces. While man developed in this direction for many centuries, humans are leaning towards light. We are reaching toward the critical point of more in the light than in darkness.
.
65. The Law of Patience
Luke said, "In your presence possess ye your souls." Patience involves spiritual, mental and physical thought and action. Through it, we learn to know our self, to measure and test our ideals, to use faith and to seek understanding through all the other virtues. Patience allows all other virtues to manifest more profoundly. Patiently we realise that any fault we see in another is one we have personal knowledge of from prior experience. Patiently we seek true understanding, not just knowledge, as we realise that every soul is totally unique and will come to its enlightenment in its own time.
.
Impatience is the body trying to join (or keep up) with the mind. We experience least joy due to impatience. Due to ego, we think we can make things happen.
.
66. The Law of Patterns
Any habit or pattern, whether we call it good or bad, tends to reassert itself over time unless we break that pattern by doing something different. If it is good, we can reinforce the pattern with small self rewards. We have the power of spontaneous action, doing old things in new ways, changing and restructuring our lives and our behaviour. Some of our chantge ability is dictated by the ways we learned when we were young. We learned to make sense of the world by observing patterns, and this has survival value. We can correct the patterns we see as dysfunctional, negative or destructive by doing something different that will have sufficient impact to interrupt the old pattern.
.
By habit we build patterns. Some of these patterns can be built into our genes for survival reasons.
.
67. The Law of Perfection
This law concerns the absolute perfection of the process of our unfolding. From a transcendental perspective, everyone and everything is unconditionally perfect. From a conventional viewpoint, perfection doesn't exist. Excellence is the best we can achieve, and achieving it takes time and patience. When we understand the larger picture, we understand our role and responsibility in helping the world we live in to become more loving, giving, kinder and gentler. When we live up to this responsibility, we expand into the perfection of our higher selves.
.
68. The Law of Periodicity
Training for the aspirant will be cyclic, and will have its ebb and flow, as all else in nature. Times of activity succeed times of pralya, and periods of registered contact alternate with periods of apparent silence. If the student devleops as desired , each palayic period is succeeded by one of greater activity, and of more potent achievement. Rhythm, ebb and flow, and the measured beat of the pulsating life are ever the law of the universe. In learning to respond to the vibration of th high Places, this rhythmic periodicity must be borne in mind.
.
Earth is entering another cycle, the Age of Aquarius, by year 2012. There will be more yin and heart.
.
69. The Law of Planetary Affinity
This law is concerned with the connection and the interaction of the planets with each other and their eventual marriage.
.
70. The Law of Polarity
Everything is Dual. Everything has poles. Everything has its pairs of opposites. Like and unlike are the same. Opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree. All paradoxes may be reconciled. The evidence of the principle is observed in the polarity of planets and various celestial bodies that includes our earth, solar system and galaxy. Everything has polarity. Without the law of polarity - light, gravity and electricity would not be possible.
.
On the mental plane, this principle manifests itself in the heart centre of each person as the enlightened or dark mind. The Principle of Polarity makes possible the choices we make on the scale of life between good and evil, right and wrong, generosity and greed, love and fear, truth and lies. The law of cause and effect is closely connected to polarity and holds us true to the choices and actions we make by returning to us what we have measured out to ohters. Like the swing of the pendulum, it always returns where it began.
.
This is the world of Duality. Go beyond this law to be unified.
.
71. The Law of Prayer and Meditation
In prayer, talk God to God. Not beggar to God. Do not beg. Do not pray for blessings as you are already blessed. Transform yourself to match what you want to be. You can only have what you already are. Express gratitude to what you already have. There is no need to change religion to have what you want.
.
Thou shall not use the name of God in vain.
eg. People who hide behind religion in business.
.
[Personal note: I have recently met a christian pastor/businessman who was extremely rude and arrogant when he met us. He said that has no friends on earth and his only friend is Him. And all these he said has nothing to do with the deal we were suppose to discuss about. We felt unnecessarily harrassed.]
.
People who are very at ease with God, do not talk about God.
.
In prayer, ask God what we can do for God and listen to what he wants. You may be mentally stretched on that. :)
.
72. The Law of Present Moment
To live in the present moment, we live moment by moment, as spirit extends and ego projects.
Go with the flow.
.
73. The Law of Process
This is the creative law. We are created in the image of the creator.
.
74. The Law of Progress
If there is no progress, we whither and die. It is the same if you seemingly doing something to pretend there is progress.
Have you ever tried staying in bed and watching DVD the whole day? How did it feel like?
[Someone from the floor: "Horrible, rotten".]
.
75. The Law of Prophecy
There is no such thtng as the "last prophet". Religions say that to create monopoly through fear.
I AM that I AM.
The mention of "sinner" keeps you small for control, and that you do not have in you to talk to God. Thus God is spoken to through the religious leader. That is entirely false.
.
Nobody can bless you. Only you yourself can.
How fast can you bless yourself?
Instantly - According to the law of present moment.
.
We need spiritual guidance. Some through religion. It is like a staircase without guide rails on its side. We walk close to the side where the wall is with our hands touching the wall as we walk down. Touching the wall is only a "feel good" feeling. Actually, it doesn't make any difference whether you walk down touching the wall or not.
.
Bomohs do the same. After giving the advice, they give you a physical object as a point of focus. Once you are well, they take the object away. Actually, you did not need the object to heal other than to focus.
.
Everyone is a prophet.
.
76. The Law of Radiation
This means going 'outwards'. Transform and radiate. There is nowhere to go to, nothing to look for, it is all there.
.
"When your eyes are single, your body shall be filled with light."
That means that you no longer see the world in duality.
And like a beacon on the hill, they will see you from afar.
.
Separate Jesus from the church.
Separate Buddha from the temple.
.
77. The Law of Rebirth
You never ever die. Energy can't be created or destroyed. It changes from form to form.
.
78. The Law of Rebound
No matter what you do, all will be alright.
.
79. The Law of Repulse
This law does not work independently, but complementarily with the Law of Attraction.
.
80. The Law of Responsibility
It was God's idea to separate, to give our soul existence. It was our idea to go away from God into materiality with the original purpose of profound and speedy soul growth. There are some souls who have experienced, to some degree, soul loss. God is responsible for us through love and we are responsible to become or reclaim this divine love. Once we establish the limits and boundaries of our responsibility, we can take full charge of that which is our duty and let go of that which is not. We find more enjoyment supporting others as we create more harmonious co-operative relationships by understanding that which falls within our realm of responsibility. Under this law we understand a person's need to over co-operate to such an extent that one becomes codependent - the condition which is obsessive focus on other people's lives. This law reminds us to respect our internal values and find our own point of balance.
.
We are responsible for our own life, not the life of others.
[Personal note: I found this from the Internet...
.
Once we establish the limits and boundaries of our responsibility,we can take full charge of that which is our duty and let go of that which is not;in doing so, we find more enjoyment supporting others,as we create more harmonious cooperative relationships.
For peace of mind,we need to resignas general manager of the universe.
--Larry Eisenberg ]
.
You can see we go through some laws in more detail than the others, as some are more important. Next month, we are going to finish discussing about the remaining laws.
.
.
Seminar ends here. Nobody fell into the $5 fine for raising questions pertaining to 'other people'. The point of the fine is to instill a habit of thinking by ourselves for ourselves and not unduely bothered by other people's thoughts. Seems that the fine is working well. Very Singaporean! :)

105 Universal Laws - Part 4

This posting is based on what I have learned from the "105 Universal Laws" seminar on the 25th Mar 2007 in Singapore by Dr Aaron Lim. This seminar comprises a series of lectures conducted one Sunday a month. This is the seventh lecture of the series.
BELIEVING IS NOT NECESSARY!

Good morning all, thank you for attending this session every month. You have come here because you choose to. This is a free forum. There is nothing to join. There is no hidden agenda, so just relax. Belief is not compulsory, there is no punishment for non-belief. We also don't have to agree. Just come with an open heart. Take what you want to, just like in a buffet - no two persons will take the same variety of food in the same quantities.
.
Last night I watched an interesting Malay movie on Singapore television. Although I am a Chinese, I can identify with the Malay culture and language because I grew up in a Malay kampung (village).

In this movie, there is a woman in her early 30s who is still not married. Her mother thinks it is "Tidak ada jodoh" (No luck), and went to seek the help of a bomoh. The daughter got to know about this and scolded the mum, as black magic is not allowed in Islam (most Malays are Muslims). Then she warned her mother about, "Hukum Ugama" which translates to "Punished by religion". Ironically, she must have learned the same phrase from her mother, since children don't have prejudice and make judgments like this. She perhaps will in turn pass the phrase "Hugum Ugama" to her children.

This made me recall a conversation with an Indonesian Muslim. In a similar situation of another person's action, he mentioned, "Hukum karma" (Punished by the results of your own action). This is interesting because the two said persons are of the same religion but used contrasting phrases. One believe in a God punishing the doer, the other believe the results of doer's own actions punishing the doer.

Anyway, back to the movie,...

The Malay woman told the mother that she cannot fall in love with Malay men, because they lack self confidence. So, she resorted into Internet chats and befriended a man from Kuwait. They got on well with their chats, exchanged pictures and became online lovers, though they have not met.

Meanwhile, mum was trying to fix her with a Malay man. She was pestering her to meet this Malay man and finally managed to get her to agree. On meeting the Malay man, she realised he is the 'Kuwaiti man" she befriended online and found out that they were playmates when they were little. She was very happy.

Then after the meeting, back on her own, she wondered...
"Was it because of the bomoh that I have found a man of my life? Or was it the Internet Chatroom? Or was it the mum? Was it Islam?"

Sometimes, we just don't know.
.
Hukum Ugama
What is considered 'sinful' changes with times.

For example, the Catholics used to eat fish every Friday and eating meat on Fridays are seen as sinful.

Cheng Ming, the day for paying respects to deceased ancestors among the Chinese, used to be very strictly held. But nowadays, offsprings of the dead could visit their ancestral tombs within a time frame of one month around the 18th day of the 3rd lunar month. This is probably because of globalisation and immigration, it has become more and more difficult to bring everyone together on one stated day. So, customs are changed to accommodate this difficulty.
.
Long ago in the 60s and 70s, as long as there was no pork in the food, Malays would be willing to consume them, but now, with peer pressure, everything has to be 'halal'.
.
Our perception of reality will continue to change as technology will allow us to do things differently. Fifty years from now, technology will be more innovative and impressive. We may be living in another planet. Some planets may be very hot and dressing will have to change.
.
Our thoughts will be different. Our children will behave differently in a different world.
.
We are facing mostly form in our daily lives. All forms must enhance "the loving". We need only love. The rest are forms. Love is like nutrition to the soul.
.
Everything is beautiful in its own way. Continue to do what you do as you feel comfortable and be sure you have Love. Otherwise it won't serve you.
.
If we believe in form, then it excludes people outside their form. It excludes yourself from the blessings of people you have excluded. Count your blessings for the day. Have you wondered how many blessings you have vs the number of curses you get? So be mindful, as it is easy to offend unknowingly and get curses for our actions. eg. While we drive on the road, it is easy to offend without realising.
.
So have you wondered why there are some people who live a wonderful life and some whose life seems stuck. Perhaps it is the curses that have burdened them to such an extent that the wonderful energies cannot reach them. In other words, shielded by curses.
.
If you have pure Love, nothing can harm you, as you have the protective bubble around you.

Mother Teresa helped everyone, many of them non-Catholics and non-Christians. Can you even imagine if anyone would curse her? No, because Mother Teresa herself did not curse others. What you don't sow you don't reap.
.
On the Law of Average, some will not like you. Is this something you have to put out?

Check your emotions.
.
If you are not reactive, you know that it is the perception of the other persons. Whatever we are not attached to, does not exist. Emotions less than joy are attachments. They are painful..
If you are defensive, that means you have an inkling that what the other person said could be true. This is unhealed emotions.
.
Unhealed emotions usually comes from parents.
.
For example, there was a father who was very coarse with his words. He simply couldn't praise the kids. It was probably something very Chinese or Asian. Asian parents don't seem to want to praise the kids. The old Chinese believe that they are surrounded by hantu (ghosts) and that if they praise their kids, then the ghosts will notice their nice kids and will steal their kids. That was their way of expressing their love. The kids wanted a hug from their father, but they didn't get it because of the belief of malicious ghosts lurking and waiting to steal good kids. Kids like these will grow up with unhealed emotions.
.
Funny that we are surrounded by ghosts and angels, but we tend to give power only to the ghosts or other perceived evil. We colour according to what we perceive.

So long as we have emotions that are less than loving, we got healing to do. How do we know that we are "less than loving"? Ask how much 'separation' do we practise.
.
[Question: How about people who practise seclusion in the mountains?
.
It depends on why that person does it. Is it because he is free from everything or is it because he is fed-up with everything?]
.
Unhealed emotions accumulates in ourselves. If there are only few issues to resolve, then we can deal with them individually. But if there are many issues due to so much unhealed emotions, then there must be a total demolition of the old emotions and everything rebuilt anew. This would be easier.
.
A person who is free from everything would do his own thinking. He does not allow religious institutions to control him. To him God is everywhere. Nothing is not God. Everything is omnipresent and omnipotent. It is often a journey alone. Free from opinions of others, as other people's opinions have no influence on him, as he knows there is nothing to defend.
.
[At this point, Dr Aaron instituted a rule in the class - that all questions and discussions must be focused on the questioner, not on 'other people'. A fine of $5 will be imposed on questions about 'other people'. Dr Aaron is exempt from it during his lecture. He said the same rule applies to him after the lecture.
EG. We have someone fined for asking questions about the emotional problems of another persons.
We shouldn't care about 'other people' in that context. We should only care about how it applies to us.

Many times, the questions we have are way beyond us. We want to know things that we are not ready for. eg. We don't know us, but we want to understand God.

The easier way is to just focus on being loving in our everyday life, and slowly realise, rather than thinking of difficult questions we are not ready for. ]

[My own side note:
This is often called 'sacred selfishness'. This means that we can only love others if we love ourselves and are well ourselves. However, this is not to be confused with taking a bigger slice of the cake and leaving others with nothing. Confusing isn't it? I have struggled with this concept for a while myself, but am more comfortable with it now. It is likened to the aircraft safety procedures of adults placing the oxygen masks on themselves first before tending to their children.

EG. Someone once told me that there were people who said that I was too serious during a seminar. In response, I asked her if that was also her own opinion as well. She replied that it was no. Then, I told her that she shouldn't just repeat what other people say. What is important would be her own opinions and she should start thinking for herself and not rely on other people's thinking. Whether I had been too serious or not is a matter of opinion, and they are only 'other people's' opinions. As I had nothing to defend, it didn't really matter what these other people's opinions were. I wasn't angry with the 'other people' either, for if I were, it would have meant that I have an unhealed emotion, and that means the opinion was TRUE!!!! Arghhhh!!!!!!! :) ]

47. The Law of Karma
This is the natural principle of cause and effect. Every cause has it's effect; every effect has its cause. Everything happens according to law. Chance is but a name for law not recognised. There are many planes of causation, but nothing escapes the law. It is ever at work with chains of causations and effects that govern all of life and manifested matter. If a person was to follow each chained link of causation, it will be found that it has its beginning and endings in the non-material realm, the realm of spirit.

It affects the throwing of dice on a gambling table or a rock slide that is caused by rain and wind.

When the law is used with conscious effort, desired results can be produced in a person's life by steering him away from along definite paths of causation. So called 'accidents' could occur without warning to individuals who toil through life without awareness.
We are responsible for the very thoughts that we produce and the final results of our mental alchemy.
Fear is one of the most dangerous mental causation that prevents a person from thinking and acting as the higher self would prefer. The cause of fear is the result of a lack of knowledge about the unknown God which should be the most important educational journey in a person's life.

The karmic law requires that every human wish find ultimate fulfillment. Therefore, desire is the chain that binds man to the reincarnational wheel. Karma is attracted only where the magnet of human ego still exists. An understanding of karma as the law of justice underlying life's inequalities serves to free the human mind from resentment against God and man.

What you see about yourself now is already the 'Effect'. Causes become Effects, and Causes themselves are Effects of previous Causes. :)

If we are free from the Effect, it doesn't matter the Cause. Whatever you are you just accept and go with the flow. A spiritual being does not project as it creates expectations. Ego projects, God extends - live moment by moment.

Civilisations have confered the title of "Lord" or equivalent to someone who is in alignment with the Universal Laws. eg. Lord Buddha.

In the UK, there is a House of Lords, that passes laws for the country.

There is no such thing as an aethiest.

To choose "not to choose" is a CHOICE.
To choose not to believe is a BELIEF.
:)

Can a fish not believe in water?
Different people has different references for the word "God", some call it "The Universe", "Nature", "The Cosmos"...etc. The word "God" normally comes from the Bible. You can call it all other names and mean the same.

A God conscious person can see God in everything - trees, flowers, rain,...etc.

Mother Teresa said she didn't see sick people, but only see "Christ in distress".

[My own side note: I have a few snapshots of this feeling periodically. One of them occured directly after the Kalachakra course.]

So there is beauty in everything.

For instance, when a tree fell onto your house, you may think it is a curse to you, but to the termites, it is a MIRACLE!

Universal Laws don't discriminate. It applies all the time.

There is a joke that if Johor had sold all the river sand to Singapore, they won't have the recent floods. (This is in the context of the recent floods in Johor in Malaysia, and the sand export ban that Indonesia slapped on Singapore.)

[Question from the audience: What about 'chance'? Why is there 'chance' when the laws are perfect?

As long as there is change in the Universe, there is chance. Everything is a chance.

Question from same person: Muslims are not allowed to trade in 'financial risks', but in today's world, 'financial risks' for the big boys are no longer risks. With huge capital, clever algorithms and computers, financial risks are no longer risks.

We have to try to see the Islamic rules in the context of 1,400 years ago. It happened in Arabia where it was all sand, 45 C and no water. They cannot be trading in risks. They ain't got those computers and technologies to aid them at that time.]

If we think the Unreal is Real, we will remain there.

EG. "Happy hour" in the bar. Is it real?

There are millions of people wo have happy hours without going to the bar or having alcohol.

Law of Karma cannot be fully logic-ed out. "Think with your heart", as the Bible says.

An indian friend believe in working hard to get rich. So he worked very hard, but didn't get rich. He then prayed to God to help him get rich. Part of the ritual of the prayer involves breaking coconuts to please the Gods. This went on and he was breaking one coconut after another. Still, he didn't get rich. What he didn't realise was that he was building fear into himself by breaking the coconuts. Fear stopped him from getting rich.

Fear comes from losing pleasure. After all, our journey back to earth is purely for pleasure. So persist beyond physical form where pleasure resides.

Praise
Praise first then guide (not control). People likes to control because of fear. Fear leads to lies and anger.

Be still and know I am God.
Better,... "Be still and know I AM is God.
eg.
I AM Michael
I AM Chinese
I AM a person
I AM a technologist
I AM ........(the false self)....

You can change your false self but not your true self.

Jesus said, ...

I AM the life ======> Better, "I AM is the life"
I AM the truth=====> Better, "I AM is the truth"
I AM the way =====> Better, "I AM is the way"
You can't be in heaven until you become a 'child' again. Innocent again and does not judge.
You don't have to die to reincarnate and repeat a cycle, if our today is the same as yesterday, cos' we didn't change our thoughts.
Whatever you have, I have and vice versa, for we are made of the same Godliness.
.
The Hawaiin language has the same word "Aloha" when they are meeting and leaving. Perhaps they did not differentiate between the two, in that meeting and leaving a equally happy events. There is no separation of the two.
.
48. Law of Lotus

Peel slowly until you reach your true self. Reward: More peace, more joy.

49. Law of Love

If you love one, you can't love all - Mahatma Gandhi's story.
If you love all, you can't love one.

50. Law of the Lower Four
Heart is the transformation chakra. It transforms the energies from the lower four chakras that hold fear, greed, ...etc.
.
[My own note:
This law made me think of the yin-yang symbol. That the lower four are transformed by the heart chakra to achieve balance.].

51. Law of Magnetic Control
The longing to go some where where one belongs.
.

You are the first recipient of your thoughts. It is felt immediately. Bodily chemistry changes instantly. So be careful with what you think.

Seminar ends here. The five dollar fine for asking questions for 'other people' invoked much laughter in the class. The fined money will most likely be used in a party at the end of the class. The point of the fine is to instill a habit of thinking by ourselves for ourselves and not unduely bothered by other people's thoughts.

105 Universal Laws - Part 3

This posting is based on what I have learned from the "105 Universal Laws" seminar on the 28th Jan 2007 in Singapore by Dr Aaron Lim. This seminar comprises a series of lectures conducted one Sunday a month, stretching 6 months. This is the fifth lecture of the series.
BELIEVING IS NOT NECESSARY!
.
Universal Laws are there. Some like to call it 'God' and feel more comfortable about it. We like to put things into a 'box' so that we feel comfortable and secure about it. We look at God from our own understanding and behaviour. If one is loving, one has a loving God. If one is angry, one has an angry God. In other words, we create God in our own image, rather than vice versa.
.
Putting Life on 'HOLD'
Some people put their life on 'hold'. Putting on 'hold' until they make a million dollars, until the children grow up, until they have finished paying the mortgage for the house...etc. This is living life miserably. Putting life on hold means having no life after the threshold or cross-over line is breached. Once the children grows up, they will leave the house and the parent having put life on 'hold' will find that he/she has no life of his/her own. This is called the Day of Reckoning.
.
We plant seeds in our lives unconsciously and reap the fruits unconsciously. When the fruits are sour, then we ask why God doesn't like us. Why did God give me this result? However, it is not that God doesn't like us, it is just the Universal Laws in action. There is nothing personal. Hence those who don't understand seek refuge in religion. However, unless they change, converting to another religion will not change the result. So some go from being an angry Buddhist to being an angry Christian.
.
Many people forget that we have a nature that is Love and that Love recognises itself.
.
Short Story:
There was an elderly Chinese lady who was once converted to Islam when she was young, for reasons other than belief in the religion. However, that happened long ago, and since she was already 98 years old, those who knew about her conversion to Islam had died and were no longer around to make any difference by then. So literally, nobody living knew she was a Muslim once upon a time.
.
This Chinese lady grew up as a practising and pious Buddhist, living a simple life. She did not have much of a formal education and most of her Buddhist knowledge came from other people and hearsay. However, she was one whom most will consider as a good Buddhist.
.
Then one day, she suffered a stroke and become bedridden and paralysed. She felt that God was punishing her. There was no way to console her. She felt miserable as now she could not move her body and had to be fully reliant on her children to feed her and wash her. Her Buddhist friends didn't come to help her. She felt lonely.
.
Then one of her daughters whom was given away as child to a Catholic family and converted to the religion came to visit her. Her daughter told her mother that she will not go to heaven because she is not 'saved' by Christ, and Buddha and Kuan Yin couldn't help her. She was devastated! After spending her life believing in Kuan Yin and Buddha and doing all the right things, she was now paralysed and was told that she could not go to heaven. It was an awful thought. At that instance, she converted to Catholicism. Besides, the church workers were with her most days to help her. She felt the love, was happy to be saved and that she would go to heaven.
.
Then at 98 years old, she had to learn English, as all the prayers were in English. Which makes one wonder because Jesus didn't speak any English. She was also given a new name called 'Maria'. All went reasonably well until when she died, she couldn't be buried next to her family, as she had to be buried in a Christian cemetry.
.
So why did she convert to the Catholic religion?
She did it because there was more love amongst the Catholics who took care of her. After being a converted Muslim, then practising Buddhist, she converted to Catholicism because she went to where love is.
.
Her husband was a Buddhist/Taoist, but had always admired the simplicity of a Muslim burial, without the loud chimes and gongs of the Chinese traditions. However, he had also wanted to be buried next to his wife (who was a practising Buddhist at that time) and remained a Buddhist.
.
So when the wife got buried in a Catholic cemetry, he realised he could not be buried next to his wife, since he was a Buddhist. Still, he resisted converting to Catholicism, but in the end yielded as he wanted to be buried next to his wife. In other words, he too went where love is. He converted to Catholicism because of love.
.
The moral of the story is that eventually we are all attracted to where love is (regardless of religion), because love recognises itself.
.
Tussle over a dead body
In Malaysia, there was an incident where there was a tussle over a dead body. The dead man was brought up a Hindu. When he died, the family wanted to bury him the Hindu way, but it was claimed that the dead man converted to Islam before his death and the state insisted on burying him the Muslim way. Isn't this silly?
.
After 'Death'
It is said that a dead person wouldn't know that he is dead! After death, the dead person's spirit lives and he felt like being in a dream. Similarly, none of us know when exactly we fall asleep every night and when that we are in a state of dream. Just after death, the dead does not know and might wonder why nobody pay heed to his presence. It usually takes about seven days for him to realise that his physical body is dead.
.
Then if the dead man's spirit is still attached to the physical world he may choose to hang around the places he is attached to when he was human. If the spirit lingers due to attachment then it will not progress to the next stages where it is supposed to go to.
.
The Kingdom of Heaven
It is said that the "Kingdom of Heaven is in Me". How true! But better said, it would be, "The Kingdom of Heaven is ME". Isn't it so, if we stop thinking in Duality. That there is no 'inside me' or 'outside me', but all is ONE?
.
Kindness vs Compassion
Kindness reacts to the moment and can't see beyond form. It does not see the spirit and the long term effects on the help he is giving. An act of kindness can sometimes be a result of making someone else happy. It can be due to a co-dependent relationship.
.
Compassion sees beyond form. Compassion may even stop to let the person(s) learn his own lesson, which sometimes can be painful. Compassion considers the dignity of a person when it helps that person. For instance, is it good to give two dollars to old people who digs into garbage bins for coke cans at the food courts? Is that an act of kindness (due to pity) or compassion (where we presereve the person's pride of earning his own living)? Taking away the dignity of a person is not compassionate. Compassion looks deeper and further into a person, into his spirit and beyond its form.
.
Love Expressed
It is better to live a life that cherishes love than one that is just knowing love. Expressing love is important. There are some who expressed love 100% with no love withheld. Examples are Mother Teresa, Master Chen Yun and an unknown Master in Pakistan. These enlightened beings love everyone beyond their own religion. No love withheld.
.
100% Love = God
.
Money
It is said that "Money is like manure. If it is not spreaded, it stinks."
.
Many people don't trust they will have money, or enough money. However, many of us trust that we will have clean water and rice to eat the next day. All of us trust the process of pregnancy, as we do not cut the womb open to check. We trust that nature will grow the baby in the womb.
.
In other words, we have selective trust of nature.
In Asia, most Chinese people are migrants of poor peasants. There is fear of not having enough money and they believe in sheer hard work.
.
Care Taker vs Care Giver
Care Givers are people like Mother Teresa. She just cared about the people she served.
Care Taker is a passive controller of other people's life, though with the noble intention of helping other people.
.
We must remove ourselves from the dramas of life and let other people figure out their own life, unless they seek us for help.
.
When we are stuck in a 'situation', ask ourselves, "What would Love do? What would Jesus, Buddha,...etc) do?
.
Think about the stories we repeat in our minds with emotions everyday. Our life is our message. Therefore focus on what makes your life sing!
.
Pureland
In the aftermath of a war or global destruction, there will be no more religion, sacred places, etc.
Pureland would be pure if the person has a pure mind. An unpure mind will not feel comfortable in Pureland. In a spiritual mind, all places will be spiritual.
.
27. The Law of Faith
Jesus said, "If you have the faith of a mustard seed, you can move mountains."
The Law of Faith is well demonstrated in nature. Our ears, hair, skin...etc doesn't know the existence of each other. Yet they work together in good faith and the Whole becomes bigger than the sum of its parts.
.
Similarly, we are all part of God. God wants to glorify itself through us. Much like we glorify ourselves through our hair, skin, eyes...etc. So if we are not living our lives in a glorious way, then we are not glorifying God.
.
Be still and I know I am God. We know that. It is intuition. Intuition is natural to us. It happens before even thinking. So, we can't question intuition. It is there!
.
Life without Faith is stressful. Faith and passion propels a person into action without fear.
.
We start by:
1. Asking (not begging)
2. Whatever you have asked has already been given!!! It is already there!
3. Receive.
.
Funnily, perhaps due to poor backgrounds, some people find it difficult to 'receive'. I remember when I was a kid, my parents will be very hesistant to receive gifts from other people as they knew the givers were poor. As a result, it has become a reflex in us not to accept gifts easily.
.
If we don't know how to receive gracefully, we cannot get what we asked for.
.
28. The Law of Fixation
Once we fix a point in the Universe (our minds) about something everything will happen in that direction.
.
29. The Law of Flexibility
This law involves a pragmatic acceptance of the present moment.
  • There is no permancy in this Universe. It is always in a flux.
  • Anyyone who is living in the moment is a happy person.
We accept ourselves, others and the current circumstances rather than a rigid resistance of the moment. It requires an alert and expansive state of awareness, and embracing and making constructive use of the moment. Stumbling blocks become stepping stones and problems become opportunities. Everything serves our highest good if we make good use of it.
.
30. The Law of Forgiveness
This law works with the energy of allowingness, and seeing all as love, so one may dispense with the unnatural feeling of getting even. The old energy of an eye for an eye keeps the vibrations of a person very low. To forgive, to release old energy, allows the law of grace to intercede and dispense with amounts of karma an individual has stored in his or her akasha. Non-violence is the natural outgrowth of the law of forgiveness and love. All good comes from forgiveness. It is a truth that the continuation of the human species is due to man's being forgiving. Forgivness is holiness (as in one-ness and everything is part of the whole). By forgiveness, the universe is held together. Forgiveness is the might of the mighty; forgiveness is quiet of mind. Forgiveness and gentleness are the qualities of the self possessed and represent eternal virtue.
.
We ended the seminar with the song "Amazing Grace", written by John Newton (1725–1807) who was a slave trader. The lyrics are powerful:

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

'Twas Grace that taught my heart to fear,
And Grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that Grace appear,
The hour I first believed!
.
Through many dangers, toils and pares,
We have already some;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And Grace will lead me home.(Lead me home!)
.
The Lord hast promised good to me,
His word my hope secures!
He will my shield and portion be,
as long as life endures.
.
When we've been here ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We've no less days to sing God's praise
Than when we'd first begun.
